FRAME INSIGHTS |

Chic CapsulePrada launches the new Minimal-Baroque eyewear collection produced by Luxottica. The sunwear takes its inspiration from the design house's spring/summer 2011 womenswear collection. The eyewear offering is being presented in a new way, not just as a collection, but also an actual structured project divided into several phases. Starting out with a look straight from the highest fashion magazines, the Deluxe style segment of the Baroque eyewear has a decidedly over-the-top look and is homage to color, to fun, and, above all, originality. It was produced as a limited edition and distributed starting in February in Prada boutiques, selected department stores, and ILORI eyewear stores. Prada is now launching two additional models linked to the Minimal-Baroque sunglasses project. The two new icons have the same design matrix, yet with different creative development. The Minimal-Baroque collection is a more wearable, but still fashion-forward option that will be more widely available to consumers through independent optical retailers. The shapes are softer, offering a wider and more intense array of colors. The grouping consists of two styles, a round-fronted style—the PR27NS—and a high-drama cats-eye with an engraved embellishment on the framefront—the PR28NS. Curves, friezes, and bas-relief effects make up the main design features of the Minimal-Baroque. The color combinations of the eyewear, which include white/blue, white/black, and white/honey in acetate, seamlessly coordinate the lines of the frame front and arms sculpted into rococo curls, whose decoration is the distinctive feature. To support the eyewear, Luxottica representatives note that the company will offer eyecare professionals a specialized in-store display which reflects Prada Eyewear advertising materials.
