Precision Vision has named Robert Spirito, MBA, ABOM, to the position of director of sales and marketing.
At its Summer Board Meeting, Prevent Blindness America elected two new members to its National Board of Directors: Mary Blankenship Pointer, senior vice president of UMB Bank, and Cynthia Owlsey, PhD, Nathan E. Miles chair of ophthalmology, professor, and vice chair for clinical research at the University of Alabama at Birmingham.

Amy A. Zimmerman, MD, and Lori A. Sportelli, OD, have joined the Katzen Eye Group and will serve at its newly opened third office in Rosedale, Md.
The Kenmark Group has expanded Mark Lake's role to the newly created director of national training. Lake joined Kenmark in 2003 as the national accounts manager before being promoted to regional manager for the southern region in 2010.

Robertson Optical Laboratories provided free fittings, measurements, and processing orders for eyeglasses to the uninsured at South Carolina's Mission 2011 Health Fair.
Essilor provided lenses to athletes with vision correction needs during the Special Olympics-Lions Clubs International Opening Eyes program at the Special Olympics World Summer Games. Safilo Group was also on hand, and donated optical frames and sunglasses to the athletes. Safilo has been a supporter of the Special Olympics since 2003 and has donated more than 80,000 optical frames and sunglasses to the Special Olympics between 2010 and 2011.

VSP, Transitions Optical, Inc., and the National Optometric Association hosted San Diego's Elementary Institute of Science students to a fun-filled day of eye-related activities. Students requiring glasses received a free pair of Marchon Eyewear frames outfitted with Transitions lenses, made using the Santinelli-donated finishing lab in the Eyenstein Mobile Clinic.
