HOYA Vision Care announces its next generation of blue-light-filtering AR treatment, Recharge EX3. The coating combines the company’s popular Recharge AR with the company’s tough Super Hi-Vision EX3 AR, which has a Bayer rating higher than glass. The result is a lens treatment with enhanced scratch resistance that also attenuates the eye health hazards associated with high-energy visible (HEV) blue light. Company representatives recommend putting Recharge EX3 on every pair of lenses, but especially on Sync, HOYA’s single vision lens designed to keep eyes relaxed and reduce eyestrain when changing focus to handheld digital devices. TRANSITIONS OPTICAL Signature VII A New TransitionTransitions Optical, Inc., has launched its newest version of its flagship photochromic lens: Signature VII with Chromea 7 technology. The lens, which is available Jan. 7, 2014, replaces the Transitions VI lenses in the company’s family of products as the “optimal lens for maximum indoor clarity and responsiveness to UV,” representatives note. Signature VII was designed via Transitions’ product development model called Life360, which used live-wearer testing and real-world measurements. Chromea 7 technology is Transitions’ new dye formulation that allows the lenses to be more reactive to indirect sunlight and reflected sunlight, and become darker on hot days. “There is a real opportunity for eyecare professionals to convert clear lens wearers into Transitions lens wearers,” said Brian Hauser, general manager, U.S. and Canada, Transitions Optical. “Transitions VI lenses have been in the market for six years. This is the longest we’ve gone without a generational change, so the new technology will create a lot of excitement.” The company reports that in wearer testing, eight out of 10 clear lens wearers rated Signature VII lenses better than their regular clear lenses. Like Transitions VI lenses, the new Transitions Signature VII lenses will be offered in gray and brown. The difference is that Transitions Signature VII lenses are a more aesthetically pleasing gray and brown. A launch kit, which includes a product information sheet, frequently asked questions and answers, and technical product notes, is now available. INFO: transitionssignature.com |
