Barr, a longtime faculty member of The Ohio State University College of Optometry, is a recipient of the Ohio State Alumni Association’s 2013 Ralph Davenport Mershon Award, presented to alumni who have demonstrated exceptional leadership and service to Ohio State. Brien Holden has been awarded the inaugural Optometry Giving Sight Humanitarian Award in recognition for his outstanding contribution in support of global efforts to help eliminate avoidable blindness and impaired vision and reduce the disability, poverty, and lack of opportunity associated with vision loss. At its Sixth Annual Gala, held at the Hyatt Regency Wichita, KS, Envision, Inc., raised $300,000 in support of its mission to improve the quality of life and provide inspiration for the blind and visually impaired through employment, outreach, rehabilitation, education, and research. Vision-Ease Lens partnered with Twin Cities Habitat for Humanity to provide a new home for a local family in time for the Christmas holiday. In addition to monetary donations and food and refreshments, 57 Vision-Ease employees volunteered to help renovate an existing home donated by Bank of America in Brooklyn Park, MN.
