SPY Inc. has unveiled new lens technology that reportedly not only improves visual performance, but is also designed to invigorate the wearer’s mind and mood. The SPY Happy Lens fuses optic design with contemporary research into human color preference. The lens blocks 99 percent of glare and provides UV protection and contrast, depth perception, and color enhancement, and is also designed to “harmonize” with the body’s physiological preference for a particular color transmission, specifically wavelengths between 450 and 500nm, where the “uplifting” effects of blue light are most prevalent, company reps note. The design is based on research that suggests long-wave blue light promotes balance in the body, and exposure to it can foster positive physiological changes, including raising mood.
