Santinelli International has welcomed Thomas Arendt as its newest sales consultant for the Northern Texas and Oklahoma areas. In addition, the company has relocated Bill Schaffer to Southern California. Schaffer previously handled Santinelli sales in the Northern California region. Transitions Optical, Inc., has promoted Renee Himel to the newly created role of director, brand experience for North America. In her new role, Himel will oversee long-term opportunities focused on engaging both consumers and ECPs to experience Transitions’ family of products. Ken Elstad has been appointed senior vice president of business development for ICE-TECH Advanced Lens Technologies. Previously, Elstad was vice president of Essilor-owned Pech Optical. Ceremonial banners were hung at the Modern Optical headquarters to honor four of its long-time employees
AWARDS
Chicago-based Modern Optical has honored four of its top employees by hanging championship-style, commemorative banners at the company’s headquarters. The honorees include Yale Weissman, founder and chairman of the board; Steve Kaplan, Midwest territory manager; Dolly Zito, administrative manager; and Fred Zola, West Coast territory manager, all of whom have been with Modern Optical for at least 35 years.
Clare Gilbert, MD, professor of international eye health at the University of London’s London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine, is the recipient of Lighthouse International’s 2012 Pisart Vision Award. Gilbert will receive a $30,000 prize as well as a replica of the Pisart sculpture by artist Gary Kleinman.
ClearVision Optical’s tote bag has been recognized by Print magazine as a recipient of a Regional Design Annual 2012 award. The tote was featured in the December 2012 Regional Design Annual issue of Print.

The McGee Group’s sales team recently gathered in Atlanta for its second annual sales conference, “The Mission is Possible.” At the event, an awards ceremony honored 2012’s top achievers: Sandra Carson, Most Brands Placed; Kendel Conlon, Top Sales Goal Achiever; Lisa Herzon, Rookie of the Year; and Chuck Crim, Sales Representative of the Year.
