Celebrating Innovation
Schneider Optical Machines played host to more than 140 lab owners, managers, and technicians from more than 90 different labs throughout the U.S. and South America at the company’s second digital lab conference, DigiCON US. With a theme of “Discover the Innovation,” this year’s conference was held from April 18 to 20 at Schneider’s Dallas subsidiary. Schneider kept true to the theme by giving attendees a glimpse at a range of new developments and innovations for surfacing, coating, and finishing.
Gunter Schneider, founder and president of Schneider, and Kurt Atchison, president of Schneider North America, brought their guests through the “new world” of Modulo, an integrated lab system solution, and LMS Modulo, the company’s lab management system. Also on display was the HSE Freestyle edger, a five-axis wet and dry edger with an intuitive shape editor.
The DSC Prolab System surfacing center, and its new non-alloy blocking solution, the CB Connect, was also highlighted throughout the conference. An all-in-one center, the DSC Prolab is ideal for start-ups and small to medium-sized labs. And Schneider unveiled its first-ever coating solution, beginning with the AR coater EBC 400. The entire portfolio of coating equipment, to be launched soon, will range from small to large solutions for hard coating as well as AR, mirror, gradient, and absorption coating.
The conference also included educational seminars and troubleshooting workshops regarding the ever-evolving world of digital surfacing, before ending with golf and Segway tours of historic Dallas.

Good Ideas HOME SWEET HOME
Volunteers from Santinelli International gather for a photo at the build site; President Gerard Santinelli was one of many Santinelli employees to dedicate his time to the Habitat for Humanity event
Last month, Santinelli International employees volunteered their time, joining forces with Habitat for Humanity to help build a home for a local family in need on Long Island, NY. Through generous donations from colleagues, friends, and family, the company was also able to raise $2,500, which was put toward building materials for the project.
In addition to helping out a worthy cause, the event was a great team-building activity for its associates, say company representatives. This was the second year in a row Santinelli has worked with Habitat for Humanity, and the company plans to do so in the future by making it an annual event.
