PPG Industries has named John Liebenguth its new general manager, optical materials. In his new role, Liebenguth will be responsible for the optical monomers, coatings, sunlens, and industrial lines of business. Michael O’Connor has joined the QSpex Technologies, Inc., management team as vice president, manufacturing. O’Connor brings 20 years of manufacturing and operations experience to the position. Tim Fortier has joined Match Eyewear as the new vice president of sales, Eastern U.S. and Canada. Previously, Fortier was regional sales manager with Viva Group International for 11 years. VSP Global has appointed Darryl Lemecha to the position of chief technology officer. Lemecha most recently served as chief operating officer of Eyefinity. Acuity Pro inventors Dan Bintz, OD, and Jerry Carter, OD
A digital eye chart known as Acuity Pro, invented by optometric physicians Jerry Carter, OD, and Dan Bintz, OD, a member of the Oklahoma Association of Optometric Physicians (OAOP), is being used in a scientific study conducted by NASA. The study focuses on decreased visual acuity that astronauts seem to experience due to long-term exposure to microgravity while in space.
