After serving as vice president since 2011, Chris Millet has been promoted to the position of chief operating officer (COO) of Professional Eye Care Associates of America. Mondottica International Ltd. has appointed Steve Tulba to managing director for Mondottica Limited. In his new role, Tulba will assume overall management responsibility for the EMEA (Europe, the Middle East, and Africa) region and the Americas. Vision Care Technology students at George Westinghouse High School in Brooklyn, NY, were recognized for their achievements by the program’s Optical Council. Recipients include the following: Janine Kieran, Essilor Award for $250; Kimanie Salmon, The Cohen’s Fashion Optical $100 Award; Nusrat Yasmin, Santinelli International Best Student Plaque; Dextroy Rigby, Rebaldo Memorial $100 Award; and Breanna Gordon, Tri-Supreme Optical $100 gift card.

HOYA Vision Care has partnered with the National Optometric Association to create the Dr. Charles Comer Community Service Award for African Americans. This year’s winner was Adam Young of Southern College of Optometry Class of 2014.

GOOD DEEDS

VSP Vision Care recently kicked off its Age-Related Macular Degeneration campaign in St. Louis in August, providing free eyecare services to low-income, underinsured residents. As part of the campaign, VSP is offering a free COPE-approved continuing education course.

In the article, “Before & After: Opening up,” from the September issue, page 92 should have read: “The main goal with the remodel at Palisades Optometrics was to open up the closed-in space. ‘We knew we wanted a completely open plan with big picture windows,’ says Luxenburg, who also wanted light wood flooring juxtaposed against sleek, white displays.
