Web-based eye exam program to debut this summer
opternative will launch an automated eye exam that promises to save visitors both time and money. According to the company, the online refractive eye exam, which can be taken via the web from any location, takes just 10 minutes and can save customers up to 75 percent of the cost of an in-person visit. Unlike other online exams that often end with a recommendation to visit an eyecare provider, Opternative’s web-based exam promises visitors a valid, accurate prescription that can be printed and filled anywhere.
It’s already causing quite a buzz among the three Os. Many were even more surprised when, in a recent interview, Opternative co-founder Aaron Dallek told TimeCrunch.com that the plan is for Opternative to be the gold standard for digital exams that doctors could administer in their offices.
