SURFACING PLUS TWO
Schneider Optical Machines has augmented its all-in-one, in-house surfacing unit, the DSC Prolab, with a coater and environmentally friendly blocking system. CB Connect is a fully capable, highly accurate manual blocking solution that eliminates the need for complex alloy-based blocking. The EBC 400 is an AR coater designed for small labs or in-house labs. Both systems complement the DSC Prolab and together form a complete minilab.

IN THE OFFICE
From Carl Zeiss Vision, the Zeiss Officelens is a customized task-specific lens that allows patients to chose the amount of working distance they need, thereby solving prior “one-size-fits-all” workplace lens issues. Officelens has the intermediate vision in the top part of the lens, allowing a wide view of a digital screen with comfortable posture. Wearers have a choice of three working distances: Officelens Book provides a wide near field and an intermediate range of about three feet; Officelens Desk extends the intermediate range to about seven feet, for seeing the immediate workspace clearly; and Officelens Room provides intermediate to about 14 feet, enough for comfortable vision in meetings and moving around the office. The lens is ordered with the same information required for a standard progressive, and is available in a full range of materials.
