On Mixing Fashion + Technology:
The color association between the frame and the tint of the Transitions lens is important. What I love about this current time—this resurgence of retro-styled frames—is we still have all this technology that’s part of it.

On Eyewear Mistakes:
It’s the same mistakes that I see people making with their apparel. There are people who are really brazen and fearless and will just step up and out with their eyewear. But, for the most part, you want your eyewear to seem like it’s part of your DNA. People make the most serious fashion mistakes when they try too hard. It may take you a long time to put together the head-to-toe look, but it shouldn’t look like it did.

On His Favorite Specs Trend:
I’ll speak for myself and menswear. And that would be the classic tortoiseshell glasses. I think they’ll always be in. And when I, eventually, do some experimenting with frame looks for myself, I’m going there.

On an Upcoming “Project Runway” Episode Featuring Transitions Lenses:
The parameters may change, but we want the apparel they design to transition as well…and we don’t want to give them any more information than that (laughs).
