Readers sales in the optical channel alone rang in more than $88 million for the 12 months ending in June 2016 (up from $85 million for the same period the previous year), according to The Vision Council’s VisionWatch Report, 2016 OTC Readers Sales.
Better yet, 88.4% of reading glasses unit shares are purchased at a physical retail location, versus 8% on the Internet. Who is the average reading glass user? A majority (53%) of reader wearers are women, while 58% are men and women aged 55 and older.
