Safilo Unveils OXYDO
OXYDO, one of the first brands presented as part of Safilo’s new luxury Atelier Division, launches “wearable sculptures”—frames that are a product of fine Italian craftsmanship and advanced technology such as 3D printing.
The OXYDO Spring/Summer 2017 collection features four sunglass models in round, cat-eye, and square silhouettes: O.No 1.1, O.No 1.2, O.No 1.3, and O.No 1. Bitonti (pictured).
Each OXYDO collection features a design collaboration with a celebrated artist. And, the Spring/Summer 2017 collection highlights the synergy between OXYDO and New York artist Francis Bitonti, known for designing a 3D-printed gown for Dita Von Teese, and for Mutatio, a 3D-printed footwear collection. The OXYDO O.No 1. Bitonti features metal as well as an eccentric plastic element, created via a 3D-printing technique.
Each OXYDO piece is available in a limited edition, and each frame is marked by an identifying progressive code (O.No.), which features “the numeric progression of the year and of the released style.”
Suggested retail pricing is $390 for O.No 1.1, O.No 1.2, and O.No 1.3. O.No 1. Bitonti retails for $535.

PERFECT FIT
Ann Taylor Releases Tailored Fit Collection
Ann Taylor Eyewear from L’Amy America introduces the Ann Taylor Tailored Fit Collection, targeting an underserviced segment in the market, says the company. Ann Taylor Tailored Fit aims to provide a stylish look, comfortable fit, and adjustability for wearers.
“Because of the adjustments needed for patients wearing progressive bifocals, we created these styles that have adjustable nose pads,” says L’Amy America. “Instead of [opticians] needing to induce either pantoscopic or retroscopic tilt, only the nose pad arms would need adjusting.”
The collection launches with four core styles (AT400, AT401, AT402, and AT403) and one petite style (ATP404). Pictured is model AT403, featuring Tortoise patterns on the top brow curve and on the temples.
Suggested retail pricing is $149.95.
