TREND: For-Real Floral

Floral prints signal that spring has sprung, but fashion designers showed no restraint when incorporating the staple print this year.

“For Spring, that means big, bold, graphic, and colorful from the runways of Balenciaga, Gucci, and more—think Slim Aarons for the Insta-generation,” says Harper’s Bazaar.

Pairing floral-printed eyewear with floral-printed garments is on-trend, too.

TREND: Oh, Dear Sheer

Sheer ensembles graced the runways for Spring/Summer 2017, like this star-speckled number from Elie Saab.

Is it practical off the runway? “Not always, but sheer, pretty, chiffon layers are in, in a big way,” claims Vogue.

Because this season’s sheers are a fun chance to work with layers and accessories, sleek and chic eyewear is a surefire way to top off the trend. Pictured is Elie Saab sunglass style ES 004/S from Safilo, offered in gold with brown lenses and palladium with burgundy lenses.

TREND: Pretty in Pink

Pretty in pink—or red, fuchsia, or magenta. Fashion labels such as Balenciaga, Valentino, and Givenchy (pictured here) presented a plethora of pink clothing on the runway for Spring/Summer 2017.

“The color for Spring is doubtlessly any shade of pink—but don't expect anything too twee…these rosy hues are all about strong femininity and not girlish repose,” advises Harper’s Bazaar.

How to add in eyewear? Take notes from Givenchy with a perfectly pink production, offering rosy shades (such as Givenchy style GV 7056/S from Safilo, pictured here) that complement the established pink hues.

TREND: The Mighty Minimalist

Totally white ensembles are as on-trend for men this season as they are for women, illustrated here in rag & bone’s Spring 2017 runway show. Pictured is sunglass model rag & bone x Vuarnet 02, part of Vuarnet’s collaboration with the fashion label. To pair eyewear with of-the-moment athleisure looks, keep accessories as bright as garments themselves but with subtle pops of color, (like the matte ivory style with pure gray red flash lenses shown here), creating an off-the-runway look that’s minimalistic and clean.

TREND: Beach Boys

Designers ditched conservative pinstripes for nautical stripes for Spring/Summer 2017, as shown here on the Fendi men’s runway—which was, in fact, designed to look like a summer getaway at a Mediterranean villa (equipped with a lap pool in the center). This look’s off-to-the-beach vibes are amplified by the retro brow line-shaped Fendi FF 0228/S sunglasses from Safilo, pictured here in desert sand leather with azure temple tips and blue lenses.

TREND: Pearly Whites

Bold, standalone looks don’t have to include vibrant colors or extravagant prints: All-white garments stole the show on the Spring/Summer 2017 runways of Louis Vuitton, Stella McCartney, and Elie Saab—pictured here as a chic-meets-disco look.

Sleek, white getups are the perfect canvas on which to add eyewear with pops of color, in bold shapes (like square-shaped Elie Saab suns, here), with contrasting dark lenses, or all of the above. Pictured is Elie Saab sunglass style ES 003/S from Safilo, featuring gold-plated metal finishing.

TREND: Block Colors

Prada made headlines last summer when it offered its Autumn/Winter 2016 collection online—via Net-a-Porter.com and Mytheresa.com in Europe.

The Italian fashion house is modernizing in more ways than one, with fresh color blocking and on-trend layering showcased here on the Spring/Summer 2017 runway. Whether it’s chunky color blocks or thin stripes, eyewear pairs well with striped athletic-infused looks.

Incorporate oversize eyewear that makes a statement (such as this Prada runway style from Luxottica) or aviator-inspired incarnations.
