The year: 1938. Imagine—eyewear is not cool, luxurious, or fashionable.
But beneath the stigma of spectacles in this Depression-era time, Monroe Levoy saw a glimmer of hope. And, by designing eyewear as a true fashion accessory, the founder of Tura caught the attention of women across the country—and received accolades from Vogue magazine.
Tura’s famous Turanette lured wearers with its posh accents of jewels and filigree. And, in 1966, Tura became the first eyewear company to partner with a well-known fashion house—Christian Dior.
In 2018, Tura celebrates 80 years as a fashion pioneer with a covet-worthy, limited-edition collection of reproductions of the most classic Tura styles from the 1940s to 1980s, replete with ornate filigree, 14k-gold plating, and opulent gemstones.
These iconic frames will be available at Vision Expo East as part of an exclusive presale opportunity (booth #1509). Tura is also giving one away on EB’s Facebook page: facebook.com/eyecarebusiness .
