Cutout Craze
In both eyewear and apparel, cutouts are in. Here, Kenzo doubled up on cuts and color with an aqua dress with sleek cuts plus bubblegum pink sunglass style KZ40043 from Thélios—featuring an openwork effect between the lenses and the frame. Burberry, Gucci, Off-White, and more also made the cut.

Reign of the Specs Chain
More than a quarter of Gucci’s 110 runway looks included an ECP-approved accessory: the eyewear chain. Fendi, Ralph & Russo, and Stella McCartney also praised the chain on the SS20 catwalk. Here, Gucci sunglass GG0772S from Kering is paired with a chic + chunky eyewear chain in ivory resin and metal with a palladium finish.

Betting on Blue
Classic Blue was named Pantone Color of the Year, and there’s no beating the blues this season. Signature shades of the hue made waves on the SS20 runways, including from Boss, seen here. Blue runway-to-reality sun options proposed by the brand this spring include the Boss 1135/S and 1124, from Safilo.

Off to the Tropics
Tropical patterns heated up the runways of top fashion houses including Dolce & Gabbana, Fendi, Louis Vuitton, Versace, and Valentino, seen here. The Italian fashion house highlighted the theme with neon hues on apparel and accessories. And, ECPs, rejoice: A tropical getaway is nothing without sunwear.

TOP TONES FOR SS20
“Combining our desire for stability, creativity, and more spontaneous design approaches, the color palette for Spring/Summer 2020 infuses heritage and tradition with a colorful, youthful update that creates strong multicolored combinations as well as energizing and optimistic pairings,” says Leatrice Eiseman, executive director of the Pantone Color Institute, which scoured the NYFW runways for top tones for the season.
