Oculus Easyfield VR
Oculus Inc. has launched the Oculus Easyfield VR, a virtual reality (VR) headset that conducts visual field screenings and threshold exams in addition to color vision, contrast sensitivity, and stereo vision screenings, according to
the company.
The device allows ECPs to conduct a variety of vision tests without requiring a dark room, Oculus Inc. shares. Patients can complete their testing autonomously, as the device features audio-guided examinations in English and Spanish. Connected to a Surface Pro tablet, Easyfield VR shares a database with other Oculus diagnostic devices on the same patient data software and allows practitioners to start and monitor the exam process without an internet connection.

Shamir Spark 4W
Shamir has launched Spark 4W from EssilorLuxottica, a digital electro-optic measurement system based on 3D stereo vision technology and artificial intelligence (AI). According to Shamir, the device produces precise and automatic measurements of patients’ pupillary distance with just one click, providing patients with a touch-free experience that preserves their personal space.
Building on the capabilities of Spark 4, the Spark 4W operates on Wi-Fi and carries an integrated CPU, enabling the stand-alone system to be located anywhere within the practice. The Shamir Spark Remote allows eyecare professionals to capture a patient’s PD using a smartphone, tablet, or laptop, and additional parameters can be filled in after the patient has left the practice, Shamir shares.
Shamir’s AI vision algorithm detects and processes 192 facial landmarks via the Spark 4W camera system, equipped with six high-resolution 24-megapixel camera sensors that are engineered to deliver ultrasharp images, two active near-infrared cameras for an unobstructed view of the patient’s pupils, and four additional color cameras to photograph eyewear, Shamir shares. The device utilizes Shamir’s As-Worn POV technology that, according to the company, maintains the exact visual clarity and comfort patients experience with trial frames when their new lenses are fitted into their chosen frames.
