April 6, 2023 — Myopia Profile has announced Myopia Action Month, set to take place throughout September this year. An effort to channel myopia awareness into action, the inaugural month-long event will provide global education and foster industry collaboration.
Sponsored by CooperVision, EssilorLuxottica, and Johnson & Johnson Vision, Myopia Action Month will focus on supporting eyecare professionals in building their clinical capacity through an instructional program that will offer community support and accountability.
In addition to challenges and online courses, each week of the event will feature new video resources, themed action plans, and educational materials to support ECPs in growing their myopia management strategies.
“In the past few years, we have witnessed huge growth in myopia management research awareness, industry innovations, and education, and yet we continue to see reports of single-vision corrections being predominantly prescribed to children with myopia,” says Paul Gifford, director at Myopia Profile. “Our mission is to accelerate the uptake of myopia management in clinical practice. We saw the need for something more—a new strategy to empower myopia awareness into myopia action.”
