Oct. 4, 2023 — Prevent Blindness has announced the recipient of the 2024 Person of Vision Award, Ed Buffington, president and CEO of GPN Technologies. For his years of service in the optical and eyecare industry, Buffington will be honored at the Person of Vision Award Gala on March 14, 2024, in New York City in conjunction with Vision Expo East.
 
This award recognizes an individual, corporation, and/or organization that champions healthy vision and its importance for a healthy life.
 
In 1979, Buffington started his career in the optical industry at American Hydron, a contact lens company. With his partners, he launched OfficeMate Software, the first eyecare practice management software system to run on an IBM PC, in April 1984, which was acquired by Marchon and then VSP. He began his private consulting firm, The Buffington Company, after retiring from VSP in 2014 before joining GPN Technologies in 2017.

It’s those relationships that have contributed to my success and enjoyment in my career.”
