Feb. 10, 2023 — The American Optometric Association (AOA) and the American Optometric Student Association (AOSA) have announced that registration for Optometry’s Meeting is now open. A four-day gathering of continuing education and professional development, the annual meeting is set to take place Wednesday through Saturday, June 21-24, at the Walter E. Washington Convention Center in Washington, D.C.
Optometry’s Meeting offers more than 190 credit hours of education for doctors, who can earn up to 37 credits; paraoptometrics, who can earn up to 31 credits; and optometry students. Topics include practice management in-office surgical procedures, billing and coding, systemic disease, functional vision, and more, and attendees can attend any of the 13 hands-on workshops. For a full schedule, click here.
Under the banner “Voice Your Vision,” this year’s meeting will host both AOA+ and AOA on Capitol Hill, the AOA’s largest advocacy event. Offering a direct connection to the nation’s policymakers, AOA on Capitol Hill includes information about AOA’s federal advocacy, an AOA+ rally in support of optometry, and an AOA+ Advocacy Workshop that explores how to become involved. The program also offers an opportunity to participate in meetings with federal legislators. For the first time since 2017, the 126th Annual AOA Congress and 55th Annual AOSA Conference will convene in conjunction with the events.
Registration is open to nonmembers and with discounted pricing for members. Click here to register.
AOA+ is designed to provide optometry students and faculty, as well as new doctors, an interactive path toward career development, skill building, networking, and advocacy.
More than 3,000 AOA+ travel grants are available for optometry students, faculty, and new doctors up to five years after graduation through Wednesday, March 1. Click here to learn more.
