Dec. 19, 2024 — The Optical Women’s Association (OWA) has announced the recipients of its 2024 Leadership Scholarships, recognizing members who have demonstrated commitment through their service to the organization and the broader optical industry. The scholarships, valued at up to $2,000 each, are designed to provide professional mentoring and leadership training opportunities.
Three OWA members were selected for their contributions through committee work and dedication to leadership growth in the industry:
- Mikki Collins, Safilo, OWA digital marketing committee
- Judy Quinones, LensCrafters, OWA membership committee
- Bonnie Whitfield, The Vision Council, OWA connection and enrichment committee
In addition to these awards, 12 additional scholarships were given to women nominated by OWA Platinum Sponsors. Each recipient was selected by their respective companies for exhibiting promise, dedication, and leadership potential:
- Natalie Ekmekchian, brand associate, De Rigo Rem
- Jill Eldridge, regional sales director, ClearVision
- Shellie Fahy, regional sales manager, Safilo
- Meghan Jeffords, national accounts manager, Advancing Eyecare
- Kaitlin Jenkins, global sales operations and logistics, Zyloware
- Ally Kamelhar, senior content specialist for eyewear communications, VSP Vision
- Patty Ledford, data integrity manager, GPN Technologies
- Jenni Makher, commercial strategy and business development manager, Thelios
- Nicole McEntee, director of key accounts, EssilorLuxottica
- Cristina Mystkowski, director of business development, EssilorLuxottica
- Janetta Porter, senior director of contact lens merchandising, National Vision
- Johanna Showfety, senior vision care territory manager, Bausch + Lomb
“2024 has been another landmark year for both the OWA and women throughout the optical industry,” says OWA president Lorie Lippiatt, O.D. “The OWA, through the Leadership Scholarship Award program, is proud to provide avenues, which prepare women for leadership roles at the highest levels. The Leadership Scholarship program is supported through contributions from OWA’s individual contributors and sponsors, enabling the organization to prepare women for leadership opportunities in the industry.
