Aug. 1, 2024 — Professional Eye Care Associates of America (PECAA) has announced that registration is now open for its fall education lineup, offering certification courses, COPE and ABO CE, and comprehensive dry eye and optical workshops for eyecare professionals.
The lineup (detailed below) is structured in a live, interactive webinar format by a team of eyecare and practice management professionals including members of PECAA’s Business Advisory Team: billing and coding advisors Teri Thurston and Dianne Boulay, CPOC, and optical advisors Kayla Groves and Joel Daniel.

Aug. 6 to Nov. 22
Office Manager Certification Course: This 12-hour program (accredited by The University of Houston, College of Optometry) is for both experienced and aspiring practice leaders. Participants will gain knowledge in staff management, delegation of authority, scheduling for staff and patients, daily budgeting, legal and ethical considerations, and more.
Optometric Billing and Coding Certification Program (OBCCP): Designed for ECPs responsible for billing and coding in their practices, this 15-week program offers training on optometry basics, medical terminology, the lifecycle of a claim, documentation required to support codes, vision versus medical insurance, coding strategies, and managing appeals and denials.

PECAA Sales Edge: Sharpening Skills in Optical (Workshop): Scheduled to be held every second Monday, this workshop aims to guide participants through discussions and real-world problem-solving to tackle challenges encountered in optical. Various topics focused on selling will be covered. Each session will address a new theme and attendance at all sessions is not required.

Private Eye: Systemic Clues In Ocular Manifestations (COPE CE): This CE offering for optometrists will focus on systemic clues that ocular manifestations give to the O.D. about patients’ overall health. Attendees will not only learn about identifying and diagnosing the ocular disease, but also about the systemic diseases driving signs and symptoms.
Aug. 28 to Nov. 20
90 Days to Dry Eye Program (Workshop): Led by dry eye professional Jerry Robben, O.D., the workshop will cover topics such as clinical education, staff training, equipment and treatment selections, facility layout needs, marketing basics, and referral outreach. This program features a combination of interactive webinars and an in-person event on Oct. 18-19 in Dallas, TX.
Sept. 10 to Oct. 29
Optical Management Certification Course: This eight-week program aims to provide ECPs with a customized plan to activate a successful and profitable optical. Themes include frame management, assortment management, critical metrics, and selling strategies.
