Dec. 19, 2024 — Topcon Healthcare Inc. has appointed Jacques Gilbert as chief strategy and business development officer. Gilbert will lead the company’s business strategy, focusing on advancing the Healthcare from the Eye initiative, which utilizes artificial intelligence (AI)-powered oculomics for the detection and management of ocular and systemic diseases through noninvasive retinal imaging. With over 25 years of experience in health care, financial services, and technology, Gilbert previously served as vice president of health care strategy at Microsoft, where he contributed to the integration of Nuance's medical imaging technology into Microsoft's portfolio. In his new role at Topcon Healthcare, Gilbert will oversee strategic initiatives, develop partnerships, and explore growth opportunities to enhance the company's health care innovation efforts.
Rupe Hansra, O.D., has been appointed vice president of professional affairs at Topcon Healthcare Inc. Dr. Hansra, who has over 20 years of industry experience, will oversee initiatives to foster engagement with the eyecare community and promote the adoption of Topcon’s diagnostic and cloud-based solutions, including its AI-powered connected care ecosystem, Healthcare from the Eye. Dr. Hansra recently joined the board of trustees at the Illinois College of Optometry. In his new role, he will focus on enhancing health care access and quality through tools like Topcon Harmony, a cloud-based data and workflow management platform that supports AI-driven pre-screening for systemic, neurologic, and ocular diseases.
