Oct. 25, 2024 — The SUNY College of Optometry Foundation will host its first annual Value of Vision Breakfast on Tuesday, Nov. 19, 8:30-10 a.m. The invitation-only event will honor individuals who have made significant contributions to health care and vision care through leadership, advocacy, and philanthropy.
This year’s honorees include Neil Blumenthal and Dave Gilboa, co-founders and co-CEOs of Warby Parker; Robert W. Amler, M.D., MMS, MBA, dean of the School of Health Sciences and Practice at New York Medical College; and Daniel A. Biederman, president of Bryant Park Corporation and the 34th Street Partnership.
The event aims to connect leaders and community members across New York City, raising awareness about the importance of eye care as a public health issue. Organizers hope to underscore how eye health can act as a gateway to broader health care, as comprehensive eye exams can detect more than 200 systemic diseases. SUNY Optometry seeks to increase visibility, support, and awareness around these issues while strengthening partnerships with health care providers.
“This award from the SUNY College of Optometry Foundation is especially meaningful to me because of the noble values and mission our professions share in the health space,” says Dr. Amler.
Limited seating is available, and registration details can be found here.
