CooperVision recently held its 2025 Student Leadership Society Summit at its three major facilities in Rochester, NY, bringing together nearly 50 optometry students from across the U.S. and Canada. The event, which took place on World Optometry Day, March 23, included members of the Student Contact Lens Leadership Society and the Student Myopia Leadership Society, representing 26 schools and colleges of optometry.
The two-day summit featured hands-on workshops focused on toric and multifocal contact lens fitting, aimed at enhancing clinical skills and building confidence in prescribing lenses for patients with astigmatism and presbyopia. Additional sessions covered evidence-based approaches to vision correction and myopia management, as well as guidance on career preparation. Attendees also toured CooperVision’s manufacturing and global distribution facilities in Scottsville and West Henrietta, NY, to observe the contact lens production and distribution process.
Student Leadership Society members are second- or third-year optometry students selected by faculty for a one-year term. Throughout the academic year, they have access to educational opportunities, including the summit, a grant to attend the American Academy of Optometry annual meeting, and networking events with industry professionals.
