Design Eyewear Group has acquired six eyewear brands from French company KNCO, including adult brands Francois Pinton and Karavan, children’s brands Karavan Kids and Kaliboo, and licensed children’s brands Jacadi and Catimini—marking the group’s entry into the children’s eyewear segment. Approximately 15 KNCO employees, including designers, product managers, sales, and customer service staff, will join the group to maintain continuity and support brand development.
EssilorLuxottica has announced the acquisition of Ikerian AG, the Swiss health technology company operating under the RetinAI brand. RetinAI specializes in artificial intelligence and data management solutions for eye care, supporting clinical, research, and pharmaceutical applications. The company’s FDA-cleared and CE-marked flagship platform, RetinAI Discovery, uses AI to assist in diagnosing and monitoring diseases such as age-related macular degeneration, glaucoma, and diabetic retinopathy.
Eyewear brand Modo has secured a $100 million minority investment led by Valiant Asset Management and partners. Modo shares that the funding will support its long-term growth while maintaining its independent ownership and creative direction. Modo’s leadership team—founder and global CEO Alessandro Lanaro, Americas CEO Rebecca Giefer, and international CEO Giovanni Lo Faro—will continue to steer global business and serve on the board of directors.
