Optometry Giving Sight (OGS) will begin accepting applications for its grant program supporting optometry-based projects aimed at reducing preventable blindness and vision impairment worldwide. The submission period opens on March 1 and runs through March 20 at midnight MST. Organizations that pass the initial screening will be invited to submit full proposals in early April, with final grant awards announced in August.
OGS funds projects that incorporate optometry in a clear and structured way, including the establishment or support of optometry schools, eye clinics, vision centers, and optical labs. Eligible programs must provide eyecare services while emphasizing education and training to ensure long-term sustainability.
Organizations with public charity status under section 501(c)(3), 501(c)(6), Canadian registered charities, and international charities can apply. While there are no geographic restrictions, priority is given to projects in regions where optometry is underdeveloped. Applicants must be nonpartisan, and funding is not available to programs affiliated with large corporations or those focused solely on vision screenings and eyeglass distribution.
