Organized to strengthen the profession’s influence on national policy, AOA on Capitol Hill features in-depth briefings on current federal legislative priorities, including reforms to health and vision benefit managers, updates to Medicare reimbursement, and improvements to the contact lens prescription verification process.
Open to AOA member doctors and advocacy-minded students, the program includes advocacy 101 breakout sessions tailored for students, briefings on key legislative issues impacting optometry, networking opportunities with experienced advocates and policy experts, and potential meetings with congressional offices to discuss the profession’s priorities.
