Transitions Optical, in collaboration with its optical advancement board, has announced the recipients of its 2025 Optical Advancement Educational Grant program. The initiative supports optometry and opticianry students across the U.S. as they pursue careers in the optical industry.
This year, Transitions received 50 applications from students nationwide. Two optometry students were each awarded a $5,000 grant, while three opticianry students received grants of $1,000 each.
Optometry Student Grant Recipients ($5,000 each):
- Annalyse Belton, Southern College of Optometry
- Shelby Laitipaya, New England College of Optometry
Opticianry Student Grant Recipients ($1,000 each):
- Takenya Moody, J. Sargeant Reynolds Community College
- Rebecca Moore, Hillsborough Community College
- Shahd Othman, incoming student at Erie Community College
The grants are intended to help offset expenses related to optical education, including exam fees, textbooks, tuition, and other academic materials. Selections were made by the Transitions Optical Advancement Board, a panel composed of optometrists, ophthalmologists, and opticians.
Applications for the next round of grants are expected to open in early 2026. Updates will be shared through Transitions’ social media channels.
