Cure Blindness Project has appointed David Khorram, MD, as senior clinical advisor, residency & quality (CARQ). In this role, Dr. Khorram will support surgical training and quality initiatives across the organization’s global partner network, with a focus on strengthening cataract surgery programs in countries including Ghana and Ethiopia. Dr. Khorram, based in Portugal, is the director of global ophthalmology at the University of Virginia and co-founder of the Marianas Eye Institute. He brings extensive experience in global ophthalmology, surgical training, and efforts to expand access to cataract care in low-resource settings. The CARQ position is volunteer-based and will involve advising on residency programs, curriculum design, quality metrics, and training workshops.
Karen Walsh, senior director of global professional affairs at CooperVision, has been appointed to the boards of the International Agency for the Prevention of Blindness and Optometry Giving Sight. Walsh will support the organizations’ efforts to expand access to quality vision care worldwide.
SightGlass Vision has named David Webley as the senior director of clinical, medical, and professional affairs and Fabio Carta as the director of professional affairs. The appointments aim to strengthen global relationships with eyecare professionals and support education on the company’s DOT myopia control spectacle lenses, which are designed to slow myopia progression through contrast management.
