EssilorLuxottica’s board of directors has voted to propose the reappointment of several directors at the company’s annual shareholders’ meeting, set to take place April 28, as part of its ongoing plan to stagger board terms. The proposal includes 3-year renewals for Romolo Bardin, José Gonzalo, Virginie Mercier-Pitre, and Swati Piramal, and 2-year renewals for Mario Notari, Cristina Scocchia, Nathalie von Siemens, and Andrea Zappia. Under the staggered structure approved in 2024, the terms of Francesco Milleri, Paul du Saillant, Jean-Luc Biamonti, and Marie-Christine Coisne-Roquette will expire in 2027. The mandates of employee representatives Margot Bard and Sébastien Brown were renewed in 2024 for 3-year terms.
Ann Wang has been appointed to the newly created role of chief of staff for Orbis International. Wang will serve on the executive leadership team as principal advisor to the president and CEO, overseeing the execution of global strategic priorities and supporting organizational alignment and effectiveness. Wang brings more than 20 years of experience in global strategy, advocacy, communications, and nonprofit leadership.
The World Council of Optometry (WCO) and the World Optometry Foundation (WOF) have announced the appointment of Dr. Juan Carlos Aragón of Costa Rica and Dr. Scott Mundle of Canada to the WOF board of trustees.

Acuvue has announced a US collaboration with Clinique aimed at educating consumers about safely wearing contact lenses and eye makeup together. The initiative brings together Clinique’s Eye Safety Promise, which includes ophthalmologist testing and safety standards for sensitive eyes and contact lens wearers, and Acuvue’s Comfort Promise, which offers a 90-day satisfaction guarantee.
Newton has announced a strategic partnership with ABB Labs to expand distribution of its lens technologies to independent optometry practices. ABB Labs will provide access to Newton’s lens portfolio, including Neurolens and Sequel lenses, following the recent availability of Sequel lenses under VSP coverage.

Cure Blindness Project has received a 4-star rating from Charity Navigator, the highest designation awarded by the nonprofit evaluator, recognizing the organization’s financial health, accountability, and overall performance across criteria including leadership, transparency, community engagement, and measurable impact. According to the organization, it has maintained a 4-star rating consistently since 2005.
