The United Opticians Association (UOA) will host its annual Leadership Conference June 25 to 27 in Chicago, bringing together opticianry professionals from across the United States for 3 days of education, networking, and industry discussion. The conference is designed to provide a mix of keynote presentations, workshops, and hands-on learning opportunities aimed at supporting professional development and advancing the field of opticianry.
According to the agenda, day 1, “Educators, Innovators & Explorers,” will feature interactive lab experiences and networking opportunities, including a welcome reception and behind-the-scenes tours of Europa Eyewear and MEI Systems. Day 2, “Advocate, Educate & Elevate,” will feature sessions on nonprofit best practices, industry initiatives, and contact lens-related topics. The day will conclude with the inaugural Eye on Impact Awards dinner, which recognizes contributions within the profession. On the final day, “Power to Purpose,” attendees will participate in microlearning sessions centered on opticianry subspecialties, followed by the UOA Delegate Assembly, where organizational priorities will be discussed and leadership positions for the upcoming term will be determined.
The conference will also include a dedicated program for students and apprentices. With support from HOYA Vision Care, a limited number of grants are being offered to help emerging professionals attend the event. Applicants were required to submit materials by March 18 and recipients are scheduled to be announced by March 30.
